The Whiskey Daredevils have continued to bring their original “no frills rock and roll” to anyone that seems even the slightest bit interested. Formed two years ago from three quarters of the Cowslingers (Leo P. Love/drums, Ken Miller/bass, and Greg Miller/vocals) with Dave Bowling (Hayshaker Jones) on rhythm guitar and Bobby Lanphier (Crooked Mile) on lead guitar, the band has climbed in the van and brought the rock (and occasionally the roll) everywhere they have traveled. The band has toured relentlessly throughout a 12 hour radius of their Cleveland OH home base, and has found an audience hungry for their warped take on American roots music, rock n’ roll, blues, country, and rockabilly. An explosive live show, where speed and volume have always been their friends, the Whiskey Daredevils are most at home on the stage. The band has managed to “capture the magic” (as it were) in the studio with their debut CD “The Whiskey Daredevils Greatest Hits” and the new full length CD follow up “The Essential Whiskey Daredevils” on Germany’s Knock Out Records. What can you expect from “The Essential Whiskey Daredevils”? Check out the global praise for “The Whiskey Daredevils Greatest Hits” for an indication of the good things to come… · “The Whiskey Daredevils Greatest Hits”, the debut CD was released in September 2005. The CD has garnered praise from all corners, as the Daredevil mix of trash rock, dirty blues, rockabilly, surf, and in yer face rock n roll is a refreshing blast from paint by the numbers “rock” music on the scene today. “…an album’s worth of trash rock gems. Four stars.” - Pittsburgh Post Gazette “…flirts with genius, resulting in the type of loose, boozy, occasionally absurd, guitar-driven collision of rock ‘n’ roll and country most thought went tits up long about the time Buddy Blue left the Beat Farmers….with “Greatest Hits” they’ve not just captured lightning in a bottle, but the whole damn supercell.” - I-94 Bar (Australia) “…shellshocker of countryboogie’billy punky trash garage gunk. All these tracks are first among equals.” - Sleazegrinder “Considerably more focused and fresh with noticeably less of the genre’s clichéd trappings. While the territory may be familiar, the tunes are first-rate…An impressive record.” - Charleston Daily Mail “Long Live The Whiskey Daredevils! The 'Greatest Hits' title is a goof. It's Ohio rootsrockers' debut album and it's best fuckin' record I've heard so far in 2005. THIS IS THE SHIT!” 5 stars - Lowcut Magazine (Denmark) “Greatest Hits is a terrific album. When a band has the testicles to title its debut album Greatest Hits, you can guess that they're either gonna be pompous assholes or wise-cracking funsters. These guys are the latter, and they've hammered home an excellent first album….here I am, poised to revise my "top ten albums of 2005" short list.” - Now Wave Magazine What else has gone on in Whiskey World? · Received the “Best New Band” award from the 2005 Scene Magazine music awards and “Best Garage Rock Band” in the 2006 Scene Magazine Awards. · Recorded and released “Bacon Martini” single on Finland’s Bad Attitude label with noted producer Jim Diamond from Detroit’s Ghetto Recorders · Toured nine states including dates with Legendary Shack Shakers, Southern Culture on the Skids, Supersuckers, Reigning Sound, The Sadies, Shooter Jennings, Hum, Bloody Hollies, Nine Pound Hammer, Gore Gore Girls, Soledad Brothers, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Dick Dale, Deadboy and the Elephantmen, The Blasters, and other regional acts. This is usually the part of a band bio where you get flowery prose to wrap it up. This isn’t that sort of bio. What’s upcoming? Well, in theory the band will keep jumping in the van and play no fills rock and roll wherever it is welcomed. New songs keep coming, so there will be more releases on the way.
